OH MOMMA! Now this is a burger!  I decided to do my own take of the classic "California burger."  My main gripe about "California burgers" is I just am not a fan of thousand Island dressing and most versions of the burger are drown in it. So since I was making everything my way, I made it my way as well!  I hope you enjoy my version of this amazing burger!

Ingredients:

Beef Patty
1 pound ground beef
1 egg
3 tbsp red onion (diced)
2 tbsp Zinfandel wine
1 tbsp 1 tsp basil
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp thyme
kosher salt (to taste)
fresh crack pepper (to taste)

Burger
1/2 cup white onions mixed with 2 garlic cloves (caramelized)
4 Potato buns
1/2 cup Wasabi arugula
1 avocado (sliced)
4 Monterrey jack slices
4 slices maple smoked bacon (grilled then cut in half)
1/2 tomato (sliced)

Francis' Thousand Island Dressing

Burgers
In a medium mixing bowl mix together all burger ingredients until even. Separate mixture into four even amounts and form four hamburger patties.

Heat grill to medium high. Once heated place patties garlic side up on medium grill and cook for 7-8 minutes. Flip patties and grill for another 7-8 minutes or until burgers are cooked through.

(Add bacon to the top grill for the last 2-3 minutes or until crisping.)

(The last two minutes of cooking add buns to top grill and toast. The last minute of grilling add cheese to burgers, if not fully melted don't worry, when you remove the burgers from the grill the cheese will continue to melt.)

Build burger to your liking and enjoy!
